10. Community Notices

1.  Welcome to Sunnybrae

This week we would like to welcome the following new student to our school community: Jeremy Ma (Room 3).

2.  Thank You

A big THANK YOU to all our teachers, staff, families and students who have made our week back in Level 2 such a rewarding one!  It’s been busy but so good to have everyone back at school.

3.  Parents On School Ground During School Day

A reminder that we have now moved back to Covid-19 Alert Level 1. For safety reasons, parents, caregivers and visitors arriving at school between 9.00 am – 3.00 pm need to go directly to the Office and sign in. Items for students should be dropped off at the Office and not to the classroom. In order to keep everyone safe, we need your cooperation and support.

4.  Contact Details

In light of the current alert levels, the school needs to know if your contact details have changed. If any of your details have changed, please let the office know via email. This is particularly important for new phone numbers in order for us to contact you in the case of an emergency.

We will be sending out contact detail forms in Term 2 for updating. Please keep an eye out for these.

5.  Swimming Carnival – Cancellation

This morning classes completed their 8 lessons with swimming instructors from the Skills4Life programme. Due to our swimming programme being two weeks behind schedule and the recent drop in temperature, we have cancelled our swimming carnivals for this year.

– Class swimming lessons have now finished for the term.

– Lunchtime swimming will be held next week only.

– The school pool closes to key holders on Wednesday 7 April 2021.

6.  Scooter Training Year 1- 6

Monday 23rd – Friday 26th March 2021

We are lucky again to have Constable Steve Harwood offering scooter training to our students. In the past this has been particularly popular with our Year 1-3 students. As part of the training, he will take small groups of students out onto some of the local footpaths to practise the skills they have learnt.

If you would like your child/children to participate in this training please email Melanie Hanson (mhanson@sunnybrae.school.nz). Include your child’s first and last name as well as their room number by Friday the 19th March.

Students will need to bring their scooter, HELMET and a raincoat to school on the following days:

Monday 23rd, Tuesday 24th, Wednesday 25th and Friday 26th of March.

Please note: As Constable Harwood may be called out on other Police work, we cannot allocate your child to a specific day. Your child will need to bring their scooter and helmet each day. Once they have completed their training on a given day, they do not need to bring their scooter back to school.

7.  Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L)

This week our lessons have focused on:

  • Looking after belongings
  • Using equipment correctly

8. Yummy Sticker Promotion

Our school is participating in the Yummy Sticker promotion and we are asking you to collect the Yummy cut-out labels from bags and the stickers from apples. These are available from New World and PAK’n’SAVE. A collection sheet will be sent home with the eldest/only child on Monday. Please return these sheets to the office as you complete them and pick up a new one. To download and print more sheets go to www.yummyfruit.co.nz and click on School Sticker Promo. Participating schools get a share of $200,000 worth of sports gear, depending on the number of stickers collected.
