1.  Easter Holiday – School Closed (Friday, Monday, Tuesday)

A reminder that school will be closed on:

– Friday 2 April

– Monday 5 April

– Tuesday 6 April

… for the Easter Holiday.

School will reopen again on Wednesday 7 April 2021.

2.  Pool Closed and Key Return

Our school pool closes for the season on Wednesday 7 April. All $50.00 bonds will be refunded when the key is returned to the office by pool key holders. It would be helpful if you bring your bank account details into the office when you return your key so we can deposit the bond straight into your account. Thank you.

3.  Student Council 2021

Congratulations and well done to the following students who have been selected as our 2021 Student Council:

Back row from left to right: Riyan Nair (R19), Ximon Nang-Is (R19), Joash Murray (R19), Charlotte Barlow (R19), Loise Tuitupou (R19), Rosie Beck (R20)

Front row from left to right: Mika Delowe (R20), Anne Ngafuchi (R20), Yan Er Lok (R19), Ayla Harvey (R19), Lewis Snape (R19), Sienna Fitzgerald (R20)

*These students will develop their leadership skills, build organisational abilities and help to lead school activities, projects and fundraising initiatives. They will represent our students by sharing their ideas and interests with the school community.

4.  Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L)

This week our PB4L focus has been on showing respect everywhere.

Our lessons have focused on:

Being in the right place at the right time.

Being responsible.

5.  Rhythm Interactive

On Wednesday all of our students and staff enjoyed participating in the Rhythm Interactive performance. Each student and teacher was given an African-styled hand drum to play along during the show. African drums are among the first instruments used on our planet. Students were taught unique teaching methods such as “if you can say it, you can play it” to demonstrate how students and teachers can learn rhythm, music, singing and dance in a fun way. A very big thank you to a kind and generous friend of the school who paid for the performance. We are most grateful.

6.  Basketball

Games have now started for all our school basketball teams. In 2021 we have 8 teams, ranging from Year 2 through to Year 6, who are playing in various competitions. Years 3 to 6 play on Thursday evenings at the YMCA and Year 2 teams play on Tuesday at the North Harbour Stadium. Currently, they are playing grading games and it is great to see all teams displaying sportsmanship, enthusiasm and skill.

A very big thank you to all the coaches and managers who have volunteered their services this year

We wish you a safe and happy Easter break and look forward to the children returning to school on Wednesday 7 April.

Kind Regards

Lorene Hurd
Principal
