Alert Level 3 Continues

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

We would like to welcome the following new students and their families to the Sunnybrae Normal School community: Euphemia Barro, Khaleesi Chang, Lucas Chang, Amelia Driessen, Willow Frank, Zavier Jorolan, Ma Eum Kim, Cohen Mackenzie, Jayden Seah, Rathin Sengundar, Aashritha Sripathi and Betina Tongga.

Home Learning Programme Update

As you know, there is still some uncertainty as to how long primary schools will need to remain closed for general face to face teaching. We have added new initiatives to our Distance Learning Programme as we strive to deliver the best possible learning for our students. Extra Zoom sessions will begin next week. Please refer to your child/rens Distance Learning plan for details for each syndicate.

This weekend is Labour Day Weekend, therefore, there will be no online learning on Monday 25 October as it is a public holiday.

Planning For 2022

We are currently planning for next year. If your child is in Year 1 – 5 and they will not be returning to Sunnybrae in 2022, please email our Deputy Principal, Karen Rodger at krodger@sunnybrae.school.nz. Alternatively, if your child is to start at Sunnybrae, please let us know.

Enrolments at Sunnybrae Normal School

If you live ‘in zone’ and have a child turning 5 within the next year, please make sure you enrol them as soon as possible. Please also encourage any new in zone families to enrol their children as soon as they can to help us with future planning. For enrolment forms and further information you can choose from the following options:

NZ Chinese Language Week

In the last week of Term 3, our students celebrated NZ Chinese Language Week. Children took part in daily phrase challenges and a range of art and literacy activities. Thank you to our teacher aides Mrs Lee, Ms Qian and Mrs Ley who shared a range of wonderful stories and information about China. Thanks also to our Chinese students who dressed in their traditional attire for their class Zoom sessions.

We will continue to keep you updated as we receive more information from the government. We hope you have a safe and enjoyable long weekend.

Kind regards,

Lorene Hurd

Principal
