Welcome to Term 2 2022

Friday 29 April 2022

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Welcome back to Term 2. I am looking forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday 2 May.

The following outlines Sunnybrae’s Covid Response Plan at the Orange Setting.

Sickness
If staff or students are unwell, stay home and get tested. RATs are available for staff and students. If a child appears unwell with Covid-19, cold or flu symptoms, they will need to go home.

Contact Tracing
Vistab (located in the School Office) is our method to trace any parents/caregivers or visitors onsite.

Ventilation on Colder Days
As we move into the colder seasons, there will be more wet, windy and cold days when it may not be practical to fully open windows and doors.
Natural ventilation performs better in colder weather, which means you can open windows and doors to a lesser degree when it’s cold outside and achieve the same or better ventilation than fully opening windows and doors when it’s warm outside.
The goal is still to allow the flow of fresh outdoor air to minimise the risk of COVID-19 airborne transmission while balancing this with maintaining a comfortable temperature in indoor spaces.

Masks

Year 1-6 teachers and support staff will wear masks when inside school buildings.

Attendance
During these challenging times, we believe it is important for our students to attend school. We are very pleased that Sunnybrae continues to have a high percentage of students on-site at school to access the high-quality programmes on offer. Attendance has clear benefits for all of our students at Sunnybrae. Regular attendance at school improves student learning, improves student wellbeing and has benefits that outweigh the risks.

The Sunnybrae staff are all looking forward to adding more and more activities to our school day as the term progresses. We will continue to let you know of any changes to the Covid traffic light settings throughout the term.

Kind regards
