4. Sunnybrae Sport

Splash Polo

The Sunnybrae Snappers had their first game of Flippa Ball for 2022 on Sunday 8 May – Mother’s Day!  The team consists of:  Emilie Belsham, Finn Cumiskey, Chloe Everett, Leonie Mackenzie, Lee Olgilvie, Jake Crooks and Keeley-May Morrissey. As Emilie and Keeley-May were not available this weekend Joel Simpson and David Wu kindly stepped in for the first game.

The team played Pinehurst School and played really well, resulting in a 5–3 win. Chloe and Leonie were both strong attackers, with Chloe securing all of Sunnybrae’s goals. She was awarded Player of the Day. David, Lee, Joel and Jake were strong in defence and Finn blocked at least 3 of the opposition goals, saving the team from a closer scoreline.

The team can’t wait to play again to improve on their performance!

Last Sunday was a busy day poolside at the Millenium Institute for our two Splash Polo teams. The SNS Snappers, made up of Year 6 players, won their game 5-3, with Chloe Everett receiving Player of the Day, well done Chloe! Flexibility was demonstrated as Keeley-May Morrissey and Emilie Belsham switched times to play for the Stingrays at 4:00 pm. Overall, SNS Snappers demonstrated focus and a great team spirit!

The Stingrays, with players ranging from Year 4-6 inclusive, played two games, back to back. The first game was a non-scoring game, the second game, points were accounted for. With mostly new players, Stingrays were grateful and appreciative to receive support and guidance from seasoned Sunnybrae Snapper players, demonstrating an excellent approach to great sportsmanship! Noah Moata’ane demonstrated tenacious goalkeeping skills, earning Player of the Day. Congratulations Snappers and Stingrays!

Netball – Year 6

Netball last Saturday was amazing. It was our first game for this year! Our team worked together really well and we fed the ball down the court extremely fast. There was amazing support from the side line and I couldn’t believe we won the first game 34-0. The positions worked out really well. Written by Chloe Everett, Year 6

Congratulations team, stirling job! Player of the day went to Isla Fitzgerald, congratulations Isla.

Netball – Year 4

At the game, Melania scored about 4 points. She was awesome! Sammy did some great passing, along with Sophie. We won! Everyone had fun but for me, it was more about winning. Sophie did some great defending and so did Noelle. Everyone played great on their 1st game for the year. It was tricky learning positions and where to go but in the end we all felt proud. Written by Zoe Cameron, Year 4

Congratulations to the team as a whole. Player of the day went to Samantha Welch, well done Samantha.

Thank you to the parents who provide ongoing encouragement and support to our sports teams.
