Thank you to all of those families who have sold the raffle tickets allocated to their children. All money raised will go towards an upgrade to our basketball courts.

The raffle draw begins at 9:00 am on Tuesday 7 June. If you have not already done so we would appreciate it if you can direct your children to return the ticket stubs and any cash to the office on their arrival at school on Tuesday morning. Payment can also be made on MyKindo.

Winners will be posted daily on the school website and Facebook page, and contacted by phone. We also look forward to announcing the prize winners of the children in each syndicate who have sold the most tickets.

5. Cluster Sports Day

“Wow…what an awesome event!” With a lot of organisation behind the scenes, we finally rolled out a very successful Cluster Sports Day on Thursday 26 May. Our Cluster Schools include Sunnybrae Normal School, Willow Park Primary, St Marys and Northcote Primary. The weather played ball (pun intended) when all Year 6 and many Year 5 students participated in the 4 different sports: table tennis, netball, rippa rugby and soccer.

The aim was to get students to ‘have a go’ at some sports they don’t normally play. It is always amazing to see how quickly these newbies pick up the skills and rules of the sports.

Our Sunnybrae teams displayed great sportsmanship, teamwork and kindness throughout the day and thoroughly enjoyed themselves, albeit tired by the end of the day!

We extend our gratitude and a huge ‘thank you’ to the parents who gave up their time to manage and support the teams; we couldn’t run these events without you!

This is what some children had to say ….

We had an amazing time scoring tries and cheering each other on. Everyone needed extra water so the lovely parent helpers went and bought some. It was so much fun laughing, talking, dodging, ripping and running. I would love to play this sport again as I had the time of my life and so did all the others. LM

Rippa Rugby had two Sunnybrae teams. We played 5 games and played fairly but some schools were really rough. TK

It was a great experience, there was lots of passion and I really liked learning something new. QM

I really enjoyed meeting up with friends from other schools and it was a really fun day. MW

Even though I got injured, I still really enjoyed the day. SA

7.  School Board Parent Election 2022

Nomination round

Our school will be undertaking a parent election for 5 School Board vacancies. This process will start with the issuing of nomination papers to our caregiver community by Friday 15th July 2022.

We have employed CES to undertake the election process on our behalf. This year with legislative change, our nomination form and full instruction on how to place your nomination into our own School’s Election website will be emailed to you if we have your email address in our database or you will receive it by post if we don’t have your email in our database.

Nomination papers will also be available at the school office. The school will send those on to CES for processing upon receipt from candidates.

Nominations close on Wednesday 3rd August at 12 noon. Election day is Wednesday 7th September.

We look forward to your participation in this process.

9. Roadworks on Sunnybrae Road

We have been informed that the final stages of work for Sunnybrae Road are due to commence on Sunday night.  This work involves painting the new road layout and realigning some existing road markings to make way for the bus priority and T2 lanes to be introduced soon.  This work will take approximately 2 weeks to complete and will be carried out under a full road closure (between Northcote Road and Argus Place) after 6 pm Sunday to Thursday night.

  • We started our Pasifika Group with a focus on Samoa. Students learned about the Samoan Culture and created leis.
  • We displayed books and artefacts in our school library for students to read and view.
  • We completed literacy, numeracy and creative activities in our classrooms that acknowledge the Samoan language and culture.
