2. Community Engagement Focus Group

Thank you so much to the families from the Middle Eastern and German groups who attended the Cultural Focus group meetings last night. Your ideas and input were extremely valuable. We appreciate you giving up your time and showing your support for this project. It is wonderful to learn so much about your culture. Thank you for contributing your ideas for our front entrance panels.

We are excited to announce that we will be using a local artist, Rix Meaker, to design and paint the cultural panels that will be attached to the fence in front of the junior school playground, along Sunnybrae Road. Rix has kindly offered to donate some of her wonderful artwork to our school that will be auctioned at the Art Exhibition in Term 4. This will help fund the cultural panels project.

Our next focus groups will be held as part of the Pasifika Fono which is on Wednesday 31st August from  6:00 pm – 7:30 pm. We are looking forward to meeting with you.

3. Spell-a-thon

We would appreciate your support in helping your child collect their sponsorship money and passing on our thanks to all those who sponsored or made a donation. There are 2 options for payment by Friday 9 September.

  1. Pay via Kindo (our preferred method of payment).
  2. Pay cash at the school office

There will be a $50 Warehouse voucher for the student in each syndicate who has been the most successful at raising sponsorship.

Everyone who gets over 10 sponsors or raises at least $50.00 and pays their sponsorship money before the due date of Friday 9 September will go in a draw for a major prize on Monday 12 September. Please make sure your child returns their sponsorship form to their teacher once payment has been made.

Thank you for assisting us with this fundraising venture which has encouraged our children to improve their spelling ability while at the same time giving them a chance to actively assist the school.

Yours sincerely

Kat Bambury, Sabina Darke, Claire Everett, Lorene Hurd, Mei Ling Kuan, Justine Mackenzie, Karen Simpson and Dora Yang

6. Year 2/3 Ambury Farm Trip

Well done to all the fabulous Year 2 and 3 students! The past two weeks Rooms 7, 8, 10, 11 and 12 have gone on a school trip to Ambury Farm, at Ambury Regional Park in Mangere. This was part of their inquiry into Products and Processes, with an emphasis on the concept of Farm to Table.

They saw cows being milked, watched how cream is separated from milk, made butter, fed lambs with a bottle of milk, and saw a lot of farm animals on their farm walk. The Park Rangers thought that our Sunnybrae students were curious, asked great questions, listened so well and were fabulous!

7. Yummy Sticker Sheets Due Back

All Yummy Sticker sheets are due back to Sunnybrae on Friday 16 September.  Please hand these into the office to help fund new sports equipment for the school.
