Welcome to Sunnybrae This week we would like to welcome the following new student and their family to our school community: Aoi in Room 2
The PB4L focus for Week 8 will be on showing our school values at assemblies.
Respecting the speaker – Actively listening and participating – Performing with enthusiasm – Showing respect when receiving an award.
This week our wellbeing tip focuses on remembering to take notice of the simple things that bring you joy.
Focus: Take notice, remember the simple things that bring you joy. Sense of the Day: What can you see, feel, touch, smell and hear that enhances your world? Favourite spaces: Where can you go in your home where you feel cosy, safe and calm?
Sports Prizegiving We would like to invite all parents and caregivers to our Annual Sports Prizegiving in the School Hall on Monday 4 December – 3:10pm-4pm Can all team members from the following sports please attend: Flippa Ball Netball – junior, middle and senior teams. Basketball – junior, middle and senior teams. Table Tennis members. Touch Rugby members. Gymnastics members. Hockey players (who played for Willow Park School)
Students are to leave their bags outside the Music Room, on the grass. They will be given an ice block at the end of the Prizegiving. We look forward to seeing you all there. SNS Sports Team (Sheryle Snellaert, Mary Waters, Rachel Olliver and Kezia Delowe.)
Celebrating Sporting Success Congratulations to Joel from Room 18 who has been competing in the North Shore Run Series. In his last race – a 2km race with 100 other children competing – he came first with a time of 8mins 14sec. Last month he also won the previous race in Orewa. There will be two more races early next year to complete the series and Joel will be training hard, hoping for a clean sweep. Well done Joel, keep up the great work!
PhotoLife School Photos If you ordered a school photo please check your child’s school bag as photos were sent home today.
Seesaw Update Please ensure that you have the most up to date version of Seesaw (when using the app) so that you can receive teacher notices, messages and your child’s report at the end of the year. Seesaw is now only one app instead of two separate ones.
Homestay Families Needed for TNIS Students We have two Korean learners arriving to study at TNIS for Term 1, 2023 on 10 January next year. Homestay compensation is $320/w per student.
Police vetting of anyone over 18 in the home will be required. A homestay learner is a great chance to share different cultures and widen your child’s worldview. Any families interesting in hosting the visitors, please contact Sophia Yang on
If you live ‘in zone’ and have a child turning 5 this year, please make sure you enrol your child/children as soon as possible. Please also encourage any new ‘in zone’ families to enrol their children as this helps us with future planning. Please visit our website www.sunnybrae.school.nz and complete the enrolment form.
If you are moving away from Sunnybrae, please contact the office as soon as possible.
SAFETY AROUND SCHOOL: Parking We are asking that all parents/caregivers be considerate of our many neighbours by ensuring that you leave their driveways clear when you are dropping off or picking up your child/children. For security, please lock your vehicle at these times.
The Lost Property Room will open to parents/caregivers from Monday 12 to Thursday 15 December. Please check for any missing items as all property left after this date will be donated to charity.
Kind regards Lorene Hurd, Principal SUNNYBRAE NORMAL SCHOOL
REMINDER: Please note that all children are to be collected from school by 3.15pm. If you are unable to collect before this time, you my be interested in booking your child into the YMCA after school club held in the hall.
