Returning to School – Update

Alert Level 2

This afternoon the government announced that Auckland will move from Alert Level 3 down to Alert Level 2. Therefore, we welcome students back on site on Thursday 18 February. The following information outlines our Plan for Alert Level 2 at Sunnybrae Normal School.

The success of our plan relies on the support of our parents and caregivers.

  • Keep children home if they are unwell.
  • If your child is showing symptoms, they should remain at home and you should seek advice from your GP or Healthline (0800 611 116) about possible testing before returning to school.
  • If you are informed that your child has become unwell while at school, please pick them up promptly.
  • The best measures of prevention are hand hygiene, cough etiquette, no touching and keeping out of the ‘moist breath zone’.

No Parents/Caregivers on school grounds

To reduce contact tracing

1. Plan for Drop Off at Gate     8:30 – 8:45 am   All Students

  • Staff will be present at all gates to assist with drop off.
  • To ease congestion at all entrances to the school, we encourage you to park away from the school grounds and walk your child to the entrance.
  • When your child is ready they could walk on their own.

2. Plan for Pick Up at Gate        3:00 pm   All Students

  • Year 1 staff will bring the students to the gate on Sunnybrae Rd to meet parents.
  • Staff will be present at all gates to assist with pick up.
  • Ensure your child knows where you will meet them at 3:00 pm each day.
  • Please keep your meeting point the same.
