1. Welcome to Sunnybrae

This week we would like to welcome the following new students and their families to our school community:

2. Waitangi Day (Public Holiday)

A reminder that Monday 7 February is observed for Waitangi Day and is a public holiday. The school is closed. See you on Tuesday!

3. Parent/Teacher Conferences 2022

Wednesday 23 February from 1:20 pm – 7:00 pm

Thursday 24 February from 3:20 pm – 5:00 pm

 

You are invited to a Parent/Teacher conference to meet with your child’s teacher for 10 minutes on Wednesday 23 February or Thursday 24 February.

 

Held in Person – Parents Only

Conferences will be held in person in each classroom but socially distanced and with masks.

 

School Closure on Wed 23 Feb 12:30 pm

School will close and the children will all go home at 12:30 pm on Wednesday 23 February.

 

After School Care Programme

YMCA provides After School Care in the School Hall. You may make prior arrangements directly with the YMCA if you would like to enrol your child from 12:30 – 3:00 pm on Wednesday 23 February. In order to enrol call (09) 480 7099.

 

Translators

If you need a translator, contact the office directly as soon as possible to make your request.  Please give us as much notice as possible to make the necessary arrangements.

4. Contact Details – Keep us updated

We have recently transitioned to a new student database called Hero. Please let us know if your contact details (address, phone numbers, emails) and/or medical information we hold about your child may need to be updated. Please email any amendments to: office@sunnybrae.schoo.nz

5. Swimming Lessons

It has been fantastic to see our children enjoying their Skills4Life swimming lessons over the last two days. Instructional Swimming lessons continue next week for:

 

        – Year 6 classes (Rooms 18, 19, 20)

        – Year 2/3 classes (Rooms 7, 8, 10, 11, 12)

        – Room 1

 

The remaining classes will begin their lessons on Wednesday 16 February.

Please send your children with named togs, a towel and a school jersey. 

6. Crossing Patrol  – Help Needed

If you are able to help monitor our Sunnybrae Road crossing in the afternoons from 2:50 – 3:10 pm please contact our Deputy Principal Karen Rodger – krodger@sunnybrae.school.nz

Sunnybrae Property Manager/Caretaker Wanted

Full Time

We need a self-motivated caretaker with initiative, talent and energy to keep our school looking amazing. Sunnybrae Normal School is a beautiful place in the heart of a thriving, engaged community. 

 

If you want to make a difference, take pride in your work and thrive on a challenge in a fun and supportive community, then this is the job for you. Key responsibilities include general maintenance of school property, Health and Safety checks, grounds work, organising small projects, as well as liaising with trades people and staff. Willingness to complete swimming pool maintenance is required. The ability to establish positive working relationships with all stakeholders is necessary.

 

Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa. The successful candidate will be fully vaccinated and police vetted.
