1. Welcome to Sunnybrae

This week we would like to welcome the following new students and their families to our school community:

2.  Covid-19 Updates

From 11:59 pm tonight, the isolation period will be reduced from 10 days to 7 days for Covid-19 Positive Cases and Household Contacts of confirmed cases.

If your child receives a positive Covid-19 test or is a household contact please let us know as soon as possible by phoning the school office on 09 443 5058.

Thank you to our staff, students and families who are all playing their part in following our health and safety protocols within our COVID Protection Framework. This ensures the continued safety and wellbeing of our students, staff, and visitors at our school.

We will continue to provide you with daily updates of Covid Positive cases in our school community. These can also be found on our website.

A reminder to please let us know if your contact details (address, phone numbers, emails) have changed. These are particularly important if we need to get hold of you in an emergency. Please email any amendments to: office@sunnybrae.school.nz

3. Positive Behaviour for Learning

Next week our lessons will focus on using cooperation everywhere.

Our lessons will focus on:

  • Taking turns

4. Yummy Sticker Promotion

Our school is participating in the Yummy Sticker promotion again this year. We are asking you to collect yummy cut-out labels from bags (each cut-out label is worth 10 stickers) and individual Yummy apple stickers. Yummy apples are available from New World, PAK’nSAVE and participating Four Square stores. A collection sheet was sent home with the eldest child today. Please return these sheets to the office as you complete them and pick up a new one. Participating schools get a share of $200,000 worth of sports gear, depending on the number of stickers collected.

In 2021 we received $1,198.00 to spend on sports gear. Thank you to all students and families who collected Yummy Fruit stickers and cutouts which contributed to this total. Special thanks to Karen Simpson who coordinates the Yummy Sticker promotion on behalf of our PTA.

5. Increasing Support as Omicron Spreads

Rapid anti-gen tests are now widely available and provide quick 20 minute results. If you have Covid symptoms, or someone in your house has a confirmed infection, you can get a free rapid test. To order a test hop on to the RequestRATs website, or call 0800 222 478, and you will be given an order number which you can take to a test collection where you will be given test kits to take home. Our local collection point is at the Eventfinda Stadium, 17 Silverfield, Wairau Valley, which is open 8.30 am-4:00 pm daily. You need to pre-order tests before going to this collection point.

If you have Covid symptoms, rapid tests will always be free, but if you are not symptomatic you can now purchase rapid tests from many local pharmacies.

6. School Improvements

We would like to say a great big thank you to one of our parents, Kat Bambury (Marcus Year 6, Room 18) and her mother, Chris for staining the Caretaker’s shed and fence. The before and after transformation is amazing. Thank you Kat and Chris for your many hours of effort.

7.  Lucky Book Club

You may now place orders online for the last issue of Lucky Book Club.  Please note that the school office will not be taking cash for orders – all orders must be placed online.

Closing date will be 24 March 2022
