Parent Case Update Wednesday 11 May 2022

Dear Parents/Caregivers

The health and wellbeing of our children, staff and community is a top priority. We’re sending this letter as there are 2 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in our community.

There is one student in Room 12 (Year 3) that tested positive on Tuesday 10 May 2022. This Room 12 student was last at school on Monday 9 May. The infectious period is considered to be on Sunday 8 and Monday 9 May.

There is one student in Room 19 (Year 6) that tested positive on Wednesday 11 May 2022. This Room 19 student was last at school on Wednesday 19 May. The infectious period is considered to be on Monday 9 and Tuesday 10 May.

As only household contacts and positive cases have to isolate, your child is still able to attend school.

If You or Someone in Your Whānau Tests Positive for Covid 19
If you or your child receive a positive test result, the household must isolate for 7 days.
Household Contacts must test on Day 3 and Day 7.

Returning to School After COVID-19
Students who test positive for COVID-19 are not required to self-isolate past seven days, but they shouldn’t return to school if they are still feeling unwell.
Many children will have long lasting runny nose and cough after viral infections. If it is over 10 days since the onset of the COVID infection and they are no longer feeling unwell, they are unlikely to be transmitting any active COVID infection and can return to school.
However, if they are continuing to feel unwell or their symptoms are worsening after 10 days then GP review is recommended.

Please contact me if you have any questions via email lhurd@sunnybrae.school.nz or phone (09) 443 5058 or 021 361 205.
