The PB4L focus for Term 3 Week 9 will be on:
Excellence: Playgrounds and Fields – Consider the needs of others,
demonstrate sportsmanship

Year 2’s Focus on Mitey
We are learning all about being a friend.
What makes a good friend, and how can we be a good friend to others?

This is an important learning experience to help foster healthy friendships in the classroom and playground. We drew a picture of our friends and wrote about all the different qualities we need to demonstrate to our friends. We also made some friendship flowers, which are displayed in Room 11’s windows facing out to the covered turf.

Enjoying Gymnastics as Physical Education Lessons

Gymnastics has been the focus for the Year 3/4 team as part of their physical education lessons this term.
Participating in gymnastics enables students to gain confidence, as well as practise and apply balance, spring, rotation and landing skills. We have worked to ensure learners have been able to explore and use the equipment and apparatus safely and to strengthen core and muscles through balance, flexibility and agility movements.
As well as the physical education component, students have also developed their Learner Qualities by working cooperatively with others. Our students have shown a growth mindset by trying techniques and showing care and concern for others by supporting their peers.
The physical and social skill development of students has been exciting to watch.

Wig Wednesday Fundraiser
On Wednesday the 6th September, Sunnybrae took part in Wig Wednesday to raise money for the Child Cancer Foundation.
With your generosity, we raised over $520 for this great cause. Thanks to everyone who dressed up in colourful wigs and clothes and made a donation.

TONGAN LANGUAGE WEEK:
Pasifika Cultural Group
In recognition of Tongan Language Week, the Pasifika Cultural Group is in the process of creating a collaborative tapa/ngatu artwork.

On Thursday our Tongan students gathered for a photo together – celebrating how proud they are to be Tongan.

Theft of School Property
Early in the morning on 2 September, between 2:10 and 3:00 am, the exterior horn speaker installed outside the library was stolen.
Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time a speaker has been stolen this year.
These speakers have a value of approximately $1,000 each. We have reported the theft to both the police and our security company.
Three young men were spotted on our school grounds at the time of the theft. Please let the Office know if you have any information or if you recognise these people.

School Photos
Photolife class and individual school photos are being taken on Tuesday 12 September.

Please remember to send your child to school wearing the correct school uniform. It must be either the black collared long-sleeve polo shirt or the yellow short-sleeved polo shirt with a collar. No polar fleece jackets or sweatshirts can be worn for the photos.
Sibling photo request forms were sent home last week. If you want a group photo of all your children, the form must be returned to the office by Monday 11 September.

Ordering of photos will be online. See www.photolife.co.nz for more details.
