Confirmed COVID 19 cases at Sunnybrae

Dear Parents/Caregivers

The health and wellbeing of our children, staff and community is a top priority. We’re sending this letter as there are 7 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in our community.

There is one student in Room 1 (Year 1) that tested positive on Friday 25 February. This Room 1 student was last at school on Monday 21 February. The infectious period is considered to be on Sunday 20 February and Monday 21 February.

There is one student in Room 8 (Year 2/3) that tested positive on Friday 25 February. This Room 8 student was last at school on Friday 18 February. The infectious period is considered to be on Saturday 19 February and Sunday 20 February.

There is one student in Room 11 (Year 2/3) that tested positive on Friday 25 February. This Room 11 student was last at school on Tuesday 22 February. The infectious period is considered to be on Sunday 20 February and Monday 21 February.

There is one student in Room 12 (Year 2/3) that tested positive on Saturday 26 February. This Room 12 student was last at school on Tuesday 22 February. The infectious period is considered to be on Thursday 24 February and Friday 25 February.

There is one student in Room 17 (Year 4/5) that tested positive on Monday 28 February. This Room 17 student was last at school on Friday 25 February. The infectious period is considered to be on Friday 25 February and Saturday 26 February.

There is one student in Room 19 (Year 6) that tested positive on Sunday 27 February. This Room 19 student was last at school on Friday 25 February. The infectious period is considered to be on Thursday 24 February and Friday 25 February.

There is one student in Room 19 (Year 6) that tested positive on Monday 28 February. This Room 19 student was last at school on Friday 25 February. The infectious period is considered to be on Thursday 24 February and Friday 25 February.

As only household contacts and positive cases have to isolate, your child is still able to attend school.

What you need to do
• You and your whānau should watch for symptoms
• If any develop, get tested immediately
• Then, stay at home until you receive the result
• The Ministry of Health has recommended that if your whānau hasn’t been vaccinated, please do so as soon as possible. You can book online at bookmyvaccine.nz or by calling 0800 28 29 26. It’s free.

What we’re doing
• Sunnybrae Normal School will stay open
• We have appropriate public health measures and cleaning procedures in place

Symptoms of COVID-19
• A new or worsening cough
• Sneezing and runny nose
• A fever
• Temporary loss of smell or altered sense of taste
• Sore throat
• Shortness of breath
